Okay, it's not that secret. But it is one that my Dad came up with after much tinkering with recipes for breadmakers.
This recipe works with most breadmakers, and makes a 2lb loaf (the 1.5lb recipe follows). It works with any mix of whole wheat and white flour, though it's best with slightly more whole wheat than white.
Ingredients
- 1 7/8 cups water
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 2.5 tsp yeast
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp honey (or 6 tbsp sugar)
Process
- Throw all the ingredients in your breadmaker (make sure the yeast is last and not touching any liquid if you're doing it overnight
- Set your breadmaker to do a standard loaf
- Press start
I love breadmakers.
Here's the measurements for a 1.5lb loaf:
- 1 1/3 cups water
- 3 1/3 cups flour
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp yeast
- 1 1/2 tbsp oil
- 1 1/2 tbsp honey (or 3 tbsp sugar)
